Wagman’s Geotechnical Construction group was subcontracted to design and install temporary excavation support inside an aluminum manufacturing building to support installation of a new furnace for Hydro-Extrusions North America. The project consisted of 17 pipe piles, approximately 24’ in length, installed with low headroom a restriction. This had to be accomplished without any disruptions in the plant’s production line. There was a great amount of coordination with the general contractor and the plant supervisor during the process.
Key Challenges & Project Details
- Access in and out of the plant was through the building, which created multiple obstacles.
- There was low headroom drilling around the beams.
