Wagman celebrating its 115th Anniversary this year, hosted family style events in both Pennsylvania and Virginia where the majority of their employees and families live. The events provided employees and their families opportunities to enjoy a special outing and share in a festive celebration.
“Celebrating 115 years is a milestone for any company, especially a family business like ours. We believe the integrity of the people who work at Wagman has been and continues to be instrumental to our success and deserves to be celebrated” states Lisa Wagman Glezer, Vice President of Wagman, Inc. She continues, “We wanted to host family events in Pennsylvania and Virginia to include all of our employees and families for this milestone celebration. We have an amazing Special Events Committee with representation from multiple offices and departments who provided input and were integral in orchestrating these events.”

Wagman Heavy Civil representatives joined Maryland Governor Larry Hogan and Secretary of Transportation, Pete Rahn, for a ribbon cutting ceremony in celebration of MD 404 opening.
The MD 404 project is a $105M design-build project, for the Maryland State Highway Administration and consisted of the design and construction of MD 404 from a two to four lane divided highway from US 50 to east of Holly Road. This high profile project had an unprecedented 18 month delivery schedule for a design-build project of this magnitude in the state of Maryland. The Construction Joint Venture included three civil contractors: Wagman Heavy Civil, Inc. serving as the managing partner, David A. Bramble, Inc. and Allan Myers, Inc. .

Wagman Construction has completed construction of the largest-ever renovation in the history of DreamWrights Center for Community Arts in downtown York, Pa. In 2006, Wagman completed the original adaptive reuse of the more than 100-year-old building that once served as a farmer’s market.
The latest $1.8 million renovation includes the addition of a second performance space, ADA-compliant restrooms, a redone lobby, box office and concession area. The renovations support DreamWrights’ goals to support more programs, revitalize and protect its historic building, and ensure long-term sustainability.

Wagman Construction, in conjunction with York Academy, held a groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, September 8, 2017, marking the start of construction on the new York Academy Upper School. Wagman is serving as York Academy’s construction manager for the project.
Located at 2 West Hamilton Avenue in York, Pa., the 65,000 square foot school will be in a gateway position at the city’s edge and be one of the first things people heading south will see as they enter the city on North George Street. It is slated to be open for the 2018-19 school year.

Wagman Construction has completed construction of a new Penn State Medical Group physician practice site in Cumberland County, Pa. The outpatient practice features innovative design elements intended to streamline the patient experience.
The practice is located in Silver Spring Township along Route 114, near Interstate 81. The new building features 9,000 square feet of clinical space, including 14 exam rooms, staff work areas, patient waiting areas and support space.

Wagman Sponsors Food Drive & Sculpture Contest and Donates Over 2,700 Pounds of Food to Local Charities
Wagman, Inc. sponsored its third annual Can-Struction contest during the month of May. Offices and jobsites were broken into teams and invited to collect canned goods and other non-perishable food items for local charities. On the final day of the competition, teams had 90 minutes to construct the donations into sculptures. In total, the company donated 2,748 pounds of food.

Senior superintendent Mark Morrow has been promoted to the position of general superintendent of Wagman Construction. With more than 29 years of experience with Wagman, Mark has served as project superintendent for the firm’s clients in senior living, healthcare, and higher education. He has supervised recent projects such as the new campus as Homewood at Willow Ponds in Frederick, Md., and the Penn State Medical Group physician practice site in Cumberland County, Pa.

Wagman received a Contractor Safety Award during the 2017 Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance (VTCA) Spring Conference in Hampton, Va.
Wagman received a Contractor Safety Award – Honorable Mention in the “Greater than 750,000 Manhours” category. The award recognizes companies who provide a safe work environment for employees and the general public who travel through work zones. To qualify, applicants submitted a Safety Philosophy Profile, a Safety Operating Profile and documented EMR numbers.

When it comes to redevelopment of urban North George Street in York, Pa., Wagman Construction and Warehaus (formerly LSC Design) know a thing or two about the rehabilitation of this downtown locale. Wagman moved its construction operations to 231 North George Street in 2009, while Warehaus relocated to 320 North George Street in 2013. The neighboring companies have both been selected to create the new upper school for York Academy at the site of the former Pensupreme Dairy buildings situated down the street at 2 West Hamilton Avenue – just a stone’s throw across the Codorus Creek.

The Garden State Parkway over Great Egg Harbor Bay project, located in Beesley’s Point, NJ was recently awarded an Honor Award at the 46th Annual Engineering Excellence Awards Banquet by the American Council of Engineering Companies of New Jersey. The event recognizes engineering achievements demonstrating a high degree of skill and ingenuity among firms throughout New Jersey.

Wagman showed its continued commitment to safety by participating in National Construction Safety Week, held May 1 – 5, 2017. The mission of Safety Week is to raise awareness of eliminating worker injury and communicate a shared culture of care and concern. The focus of the week boils down to one goal: keeping each other safe.

Wagman received Honorable Mention during the 2017 Excellence in Concrete Awards by the Maryland Chapter of the American Concrete Institute for the I-95 Deck Rehabilitation and Joint Modification Project. The project received the honorable mention during the awards banquet held in April, which honored projects with advanced knowledge and practices in construction with concrete.

Representatives of Wagman Construction, HHHunt, local dignitaries and members of the community celebrated the groundbreaking of Spring Arbor of Crofton on May 10, 2017. The new senior living facility, located at 1495 Riedel Road in Crofton, Md., will have the capacity to serve 95 residents. The single-story structure will feature both assisted living and memory care services. Wagman is serving as the general contractor for the project.

Wagman Construction has completed the renovation of the former Appel Infirmary at Franklin & Marshall College (F&M) in Lancaster, Pa. The building, totaling 9,830 square feet, was transformed into Harwood Commons — in recognition of an enabling gift by F&M alumnus Brett Harwood '71 — and became the new home for the college's Office of Student and Post-Graduate Development, as well as the Ware Institute for Civic Engagement.

Wagman demonstrated their support for the 18th Annual National Work Zone Awareness Week from April 3 – 7, 2017. Wagman employees were encouraged to “go orange” throughout the week to help raise awareness and bring national attention to motorist and work zone safety.

Wagman recently welcomed Greg G. Peitz to the team as drilled shaft manager. Greg brings over 35 years of caisson and drilled shaft experience to the geotechnical construction operation of the company. Starting his career in the industry as yard/shop foreman and project superintendent, he worked his way up through positions including managing the caisson division at a construction company outside of Pittsburgh, Pa.

On January 26, 2017, the Maryland Quality Initiative (MdQI) hosted an Awards of Excellence banquet during the annual MdQI Conference in Baltimore, Maryland. The Awards of Excellence acknowledge the commendable efforts of engineering consultants and contractors who have delivered successful public sector transportation projects in Maryland. Wagman received three awards for their work on the I-95 Deck Rehabilitation and Joint Modification Project for the Maryland Transportation Authority.

Wagman Construction has completed a base lodge expansion at Whitetail Resort in Mercersburg, Pa. The $8.5 million project was built during Whitetail’s off season and completed in time for the 2016-17 ski and snowboarding season.
